Today, the House passed the year-end omnibus legislative package that cleared the Senate yesterday and included the Lymphedema Treatment Act, which means our bill has officially been passed by Congress! President Biden is expected to sign the bill as soon as it reaches his desk, so in a very short time the Lymphedema Treatment Act will officially become law!!

We will be back in touch after the holidays to talk about the next phase of our advocacy, which will include working with CMS (the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services) as they write the rules to implement the coverage. It is very important that we stay engaged throughout that process to ensure that the coverage is implemented correctly.

After 12 years of working on this bill, it doesn’t quite feel real to me yet. I’m so incredibly grateful to all of our members who have worked tirelessly on this for years along side me. To those of you who never gave up, even when it sometimes felt like it was never going to happen. For having faith that if we just kept putting one foot in front of the other, no matter how long it took, we would eventually reach the finish line… and today we did!

We hope to plan something to celebrate our success, and will also be in touch about that in the new year. In the meantime, please take a moment to send an email to your members of Congress to express your appreciation for passage of the Lymphedema Treatment Act.

Have a joyous holiday season and thank you again for your tremendous advocacy that made this victory possible!
