To learn about these events we suggest you visit the websites and social media pages for your members of Congress. Events are typically not publicized very far in advance, so you will need to check periodically. Signing up to receive their newsletters is also a good idea, as events are often announced there.
Another great resource is the website Town Hall Project, which has nationwide information for all members of Congress. You can also sign up to be notified about events in your area, which is a great convenience.
Here is a two minute video clip of one of our advocates speaking to her Congressman at a Town Hall.
Less than 24 hours later, he had cosponsored the bill! Not only that, he also talked to the one other Congressman in his state who had yet to cosponsor and got him to sign on as well!
Once you identify an event, you can prepare for it in the same way you would a district meeting, information for which is on our website. When we speak up it makes a difference – thank you for your advocacy!
