Landmark passage of the Lymphedema Treatment Act has ushered in a new era for lymphedema care in the United States, and with that comes new challenges and opportunities. Our current policy priorities include:
Compression Garments, Supplies, and Related Services
Continued refinements to and oversight of Medicare coverage.
Ensuring Medicare Advantage plan compliance, including establishment of reasonable reimbursement rates.
Addressing remaining gaps in coverage as needed with all other types of insurance.
Educating patients, providers, and suppliers about the new coverage.
Other Coverage Issues
Advocating for reasonable coverage criteria for advanced pneumatic compression pumps.
Establishing a pathway to coverage for pumps used in the treatment of head and neck lymphedema.
Supporting participation in the Public Comment Period for any new Local Coverage Determination (LCD) related to pneumatic compression pumps.
Coverage of prescription footwear for patients unable to wear standard shoes.
