The deadline for Representatives to join as “original” cosponsors is this Friday, March 22nd. Unless you have called your Rep’s office and been told he or she has already decided to sign on as an original cosponsor, please call and ask again.
An original cosponsor means that a member of Congress’ name is on a bill at the time it is reintroduced, and indicates that he or she feels it is particularly important. The more we have the stronger the start for our bill!
The phone number and call script are here. Offices typically answer calls from 9am-6pm EST and some have after hours voice mail. Friday is the deadline because the bill is being reintroduced in the House next week.
