People who have both Medicare and full Medicaid coverage are “dually eligible.” Medicare pays first when you’re dually eligible, meaning you are entitled to all of the coverage outlined on our Medicare page. Medicaid pays last, after Medicare and any other health insurance you have.
If you have Medicaid only, your coverage will be determined by your plan. Many state Medicaid plans provided some coverage for compression supplies even before passage of the Lymphedema Treatment Act, and it is our goal to ensure that they all eventually adopt the same comprehensive coverage as Medicare.
For an overview of the coverage in each state, please view our Medicaid Spreadsheet. Note that the information on this spreadsheet is specific to each state’s fee-for-service plan and is accurate to the best of our ability, but is not a guarantee of coverage. All states also have multiple managed care Medicaid plans, and you should always contact your plan to confirm the coverage available to you.
If you have been denied coverage by a Medicaid plan please use our Denial Reporting Form. It is important that we hear from anyone who is not receiving coverage so that we can work to address remaining coverage gaps. Additionally, follow the steps on our Contact Your Insurance Company page.
