We are grateful to everyone who participated in our 2025 Lymphedema Coverage Survey. A report outlining the results will be released soon.
Last week, I had the pleasure and honor of attending and speaking at the International Lymphedema Framework conference. Amongst the many wonderful and informative presentations was one from Dr. Joseph Dayan, regarding his study to look at the effectiveness of the use of GLP-1 medications in the treatment of lymphedema.
The study is still enrolling patients. Participation requirements include:
- The study is enrolling men and women 18 years of age or older.
- Your lymphedema can be primary or secondary, but must be unilateral, not bilateral, so that measurements can be compared to the unaffected limb.
- Patients must have their own prescription for a GLP-1 drug.
- Study participants must be willing and able to travel to the study site in New Jersey a minimum of three times for measurements — at the start of participation, at the 3-month mark, and at the 6-month mark.
For more information about the study or to inquire about participation, please send your name and contact information to lymphstudy@arsahealth.com or contact Giana Truax at 866-266-2577 ext. 1860.
With regard to potential future lymphedema-related insurance coverage, before any advocacy for that could occur, it must first be proven as a safe and effective treatment for lymphedema, so this study is an important step in that direction.
Our group cannot enroll participants, and we do not have any other information beyond what is provided here. Please use the email address or phone number above to direct any questions to the study organizers.
As a reminder, if you have a birthday this month and are a Facebook user, we hope you will consider choosing the Lymphedema Education and Awareness Project for your birthday fundraiser. With just a few clicks, you can set up your birthday fundraiser. It’s a great way to spread awareness and support our work!
