Anyone with lymphedema needing therapeutic (prescription) shoes due to lymphedema swelling in their feet should have coverage for those items, but unfortunately, that is not currently the case. If you also have diabetes, however, you may qualify for coverage.
The complete Medicare policy can be read at Therapeutic Shoes for Persons with Diabetes, and key excerpts are copied below. Individuals with diabetes and lymphedema are likely to qualify for coverage due to items 2e and 2f on the list of qualifying conditions.
If you are in need of therapeutic shoes and think you might qualify for coverage, please speak to your doctor. We are not able to give medical advice and have no further information on this topic beyond what is provided here, but we hope this guidance is helpful.
