Recently, our group reached out to the Medicaid Directors in all 50 states plus DC, to gather information about their current coverage for lymphedema treatment items and encourage them to provide the same comprehensive coverage that Medicare now does.
As we learn details about each state’s Medicaid coverage, we will share that information here. To start us off, I’m so pleased to be able to announce the following:
The state of Arizona has fully adopted the new coverage – all 83 codes on the Medicare fee schedule, and the same allowances of 3 sets of daytime garments every six months and 2 sets of nighttime garments every two years!
Keep in mind that most states have both a fee-for-service state plan, which is akin to traditional Medicare, and also managed care plans, which are akin to Medicare Advantage. This and future Medicaid coverage updates pertain to each state’s fee-for-service plan unless otherwise specified.
This state-by-state outreach is part of our continuing commitment to improving access to care for all Americans with lymphedema, regardless of where you live or what insurance plan you have.
In support of our work, please consider donating to our 15th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign if you haven’t already. No amount is too small to make a difference!
Every dollar you contribute fuels our mission to close coverage gaps, advocate for fair policies, and empower patients. If you prefer to donate by check, you can do so by mailing your gift to: Lymphedema Advocacy Group, PO Box 1682, Carrboro, NC 27510.
Thank you for your advocacy and support!
